Words we live by

“The man who goes to bed early and gets up when the sun comes out, works his land with love and perseverance without counting the hours, will never have troubles or hard times and always have food on his table.”

A traditional farm proverb

This message reflects the values behind our work: rise with purpose, care for the land, persevere through every season, and remain grateful for what the farm provides.

About our farm

Connected to the land. Committed to useful goods.

Carswell Collective Farm was acquired in 2020 with a vision of creating productive working land where sheep, chickens, and goats could be raised using regenerative farming practices. Our approach is centered on improving soil health, using the land responsibly, and creating habitat that supports native plants, wildlife, and pollinators.

The farm is located within the central portion of a former 3,600-acre working sheep and cattle ranch. Situated approximately 40 miles from large-scale agricultural operations and surrounded by minimal human development, the property offers a uniquely protected environment for native species. Our artificial open-water tanks provide dependable water sources for wildlife and are especially valuable to the bees and other pollinators that help sustain the local ecosystem.

By balancing responsible agricultural production with habitat conservation, we have created a place where livestock, wildlife, pollinators, and native vegetation can thrive together. As the seasons allow, we use the resources raised and produced on the property to create wholesome foods, handcrafted goods, and practical farm-sourced products.

Meet the collective

Andrew Cassell

Founder · Owner / Operator

Andrew Cassell founded Carswell Collective Farm from a lifelong desire to live closer to the natural world. A devoted naturalist, he found tranquility on the farm where the Chihuahuan Desert meets the Texas Hill Country. After six years of ownership, circumstances finally gave Andrew the opportunity to pursue his dream and create the foundation for his future retirement by formally establishing Carswell Collective Farm.

Through land conservation, responsible stewardship, and regenerative farming practices, Andrew works to produce useful goods from the fruits of the land while protecting the native habitat that makes the property so special. Away from the farm, he enjoys collecting records and dreams of once again hiking the backcountry of northern Idaho and western Montana—searching for gemstones and moss agates and relaxing in remote natural hot springs.

Stewardship beyond the farmyard

Wildlife management & conservation

We care for the whole landscape. Responsible water access, habitat conservation, and thoughtful wildlife management help support healthy deer herds and preserve our Texas land for future generations.
